alright, i had a 1996 bmw 328is, until last week i hydroplaned, and totaled it in the rain. and my parents said that they are not going to get me anything nice cause obviously i dont know how to drive. which im a very good driver, but it was raining and i was going below the speed limit. Anyways my friend has a 1987 nissan 300zx with a blown engine, or something wrong(i think he said it was a headgasket). and it comes with a engine that he bought at a salvage yard, out of another car and he said the he saw that engine running, and the people at the salvage yards says it runs and will pass emissions. i just need to know if it is worth buying it for $500 dollars, cause im 16 and i really need a car……oh yeah my dad has his own body shop, and he has built cars from scratch before, so i def. will have help on it. and ive also seen rebuilt engines for this car on ebay for 500 dollars too.

The engine recently stopped working so I’m looking to part it out because I can't afford to replace the engine. I'm searching salvage yards for used engines but I am still trying to keep my options open. I’m the only owner. The outside is blue, the body has 140,000 miles, brand new tires (some of the hairs are still on them), everything works (except the engine). How much could I expect to get out of parting it out? If someone made an offer on the whole car, what would be a good range to expect?

As a child and now, I've always loved professional cars. I started out with a hearse as a first car but always wanted an ambulance or a combination vehical to go with it. I live in New York so not many vintage cars last long in the few salvage yards there are. Over the years I've found a bunch over the internet but they were bought, missing important parts or the salvage yard info wasn't listed, which brings me to my question. Where would I be able to find a classic ambulance or combination vehical in what state and salvage yard. I don't mind the traveling, and any help/information will be appreciated. Thanks.

Where can I find a sport appearance rocker moulding for a 2003 Monte Carlo SS Jeff Gordon Edition? I bought it as a rebuilder and have everything done, but I don't have the right side rocker moulding. I don't really want to shell out the cash to buy new from the dealership. I've checked salvage yards all over the US, and found 2 mouldings, both of which were broken in the process of taking them off the car. Any other ideas?

My friend and I are looking for a cheap (0-1000 dollars) car to turn into a circuit car. Therefore we are looking in used cars of course. But we can't find any for that cheap that is close (within 40 miles), unless the car has body damage. That is the only thing we can't fix, so we want to find cars that don't have much body damage. Besides eBay, Yahoo Autos, Auto Trader, and salvage yards, where can we find used cheap cars. We would also like the engine intact (mostly the block, and other expensive parts), but it doesn't have to run.

Was hoping someone had some knowledge on any salvage yards close or In NY. Either where I can just buy, or better be able to strip what ever I need myself. Thanks. NY would be best or something no further then 2 hours or so.

I'm building a dune buggy that is asking for a 1000cc snowmobile Engine. I would like to find at local snowmobile salvage yards and maybe on the net. I would preferably like it to be a Liquid cooled engine with a CVT Transmission, 4-Stroke, but if the price is goodI would go for a a 2 stroke engine. Also, it would be really good with a V-Twin configuration.
Also, I don't have a snowmobile I just need an engine for my buggy I'm making from scratch.

I managed to ***** the front left piece of the aero kit on my car when I bottomed out trying to get up a really steep drive. Stupid, I know. It's a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse. Is there any way I can just buy that one piece of the kit to replace the cracked part? I don't think there'd be any replacement parts at the salvage yards yet since it's such a late model. Anyone have any idea where I might find a replacement without buying the entire kit?
